Step 1: ID Scan
In the first step, customers are asked to take a picture of their identification document.
Accepted documents include passport, national IDs, and drivers licences. The type of document accepted may vary by country.
Step 2: ID Security Check
A static picture rarely tells the whole story and can be counterfit – that’s why in the second step, customers are asked to tilt their identification document back and forth in front of the camera.
All modern identification documents contain visual security and fraud-prevention measures such as 3D-images and holograms. By scanning for these, the system can detect fake documents and won’t accept their submission.
Step 3: Facial Scan
But who is actually holding that verified document in their hands? The third step is using the front-facing camera to take a selfie.
Advanced facial recognition software scans a customer’s unique facial features and compares them to the document submitted previously. Built-in artificial intelligence allows for natural factors like ageing or change of hairstyle, but will dismiss a totally different face to the photo on the identification documents.
